If you’re a new player, or you finally want to level that
new character you haven’t had time to, well here’s your chance. For $29.99 you
can purchase an upgrade that will level one of your characters to 25, as well
as level a subclass, and give you some telemetries. When The Taken King came
out, it also came with an upgrade for one character to level 25, and it was
meant for you to be able to experience The Taken King quickly. Honestly, this
pisses me off, let me tell you why. Since I became an owner of a PlayStation 4
in October, I was a very active player of Destiny,
and my attention wavered sometime after the fun of the expansions came. Even
now, Destiny has lost me as a player,
I haven’t felt like opening it, and I don’t really find it interesting, maybe
that’ll change with a new expansion. But why does this microtransaction make me
angry? Well because I was a very active player, I leveled up my characters
through hours of grinding, and boy do I mean hours. How is it fair for someone
with some money to skip a lot of the grind, not just character level, but also
in leveling a subclass? I would say maybe in some cases it’s okay, switching
from Xbox or PlayStation, or vice versa. But I feel like it takes a lot of fun
out of the game if you’re able to buy yourself into the halfway point. Not to
mention from the 25 point it’s relatively easy to level up that character
through regular means, it’ll still take some time but why worry about time when
you’ve already left behind the biggest hurdle? I think Bungie is making a
mistake here, and I’m worried for the state of Destiny, though that is my opinion. If this was a more popular blog
I’d ask for some comments below, but hey, I can dream right?
It's like a metaphor for life. While some people work hard and put in the time and effort to get ahead in life, others that have the money just buy their way to the top. It's not fair but it happens.
